KS1 Multi Sports Festival

The Friday prior to October half term saw the School Sport Partnership organise the inaugural KS1 Multi Sport Festival.  100 KS1 pupils made their way to Gateshead Leisure Centre to participate in this event. They entered the Maple Hall with great excitement and anticipation for what the morning held in store for them in this partnership wide event. They were not disappointed and as the nerves and excitement settled each school team got down to the business in hand – to complete all 9 activity stations.

Young Leaders from Whickham Academy and Sports College worked hard to put School teams through their paces at each station. They managed this brilliantly and were often seen steering the KS1 pupils in the right direction (literally!) and generally entered into the spirit of the event as you can see below.

The morning was a great success for all involved especially and most importantly the KS1 pupils themselves and the young leaders. The results were as follows: RESULTS

The most improved team was Portobello Primary School followed by Oakfield Infant School and Gateshead St Joseph’s RC Primary School. Glynwood Primary School were pleased to recieve the Respect Certificate from the young leaders. This was decided because of for their great attitude, politeness and all round sportsmanship with each other and fellow competitors. Special congratulations to these schools but also to everyone who participated in this event. We look forward to this becoming an annual event in our calendar.
