Year 5/6 Mini Hockey Finals

Fellside Primary School made a clean sweep of the medals at last night’s Gateshead Schools, Year 5/6 Mini Hockey Finals. They claimed both gold and silver medals with their A and B teams respectively.

In taking the gold medal position Fellside A team remained unbeaten on the night. Not only were they unbeaten but they secured an impressive final goal difference of 29, scoring 31 goals in total over 5 games.

Fellside A proved to be a very skilful team who worked hard throughout and thoroughly deserved their victory in this event. We really hope they will have the opportunity to go on to represent the Gateshead School Sport Partnership at the next level.

The other positions in these Gateshead Finals were very closely contested with all teams in with a shout right to the final whistle.  This is perfectly illustrated when you look at the results and see that 2nd and 3rd positions had to be decided on goal difference with both teams on the same points total.

Although a challenging evening with the weather conditions and then the floodlights failing it was an excellent showing of the amazing skill and talent we have in our primary schools. All players raised their game last night and the progression made by both players and teams alike throughout these tournaments has been phenomenal as have the sporting  attitudes on display – our footballers could learn some valuable lessons here. In view of this everyone, without exception was a winner here - well done.
