KS1 Indoor Athletics Festival

On Wednesday 12th March the KS1 Indoor Athletics Festival took place at Gateshead Leisure Centre. 100 KS1 pupils came along to participate in this event; they entered the occasion with great excitement and anticipation for what the day held in store for them in this Partnership wide event.

All participants and volunteers, being young leaders and teachers worked hard to put school teams through their paces at each station. They managed this superbly and became driven by the atmosphere of the event

An action packed day for the KS1 pupils who participated in a variety of athletic activities. Each team completed 2 rounds of the 6 station circuit and teams were ranked pending on how much they improved from round 1 to 2. On conclusion of the morning session Bill Quay were the most improved school, Brighton Avenue were the runners up and St Mary’s finished third.

It was clear that Sacred Heart were the most improved from the afternoon session, St Oswald’s (C) were runners up and St Oswald’s (B) finished third.

Above all the morning and afternoon sessions were a great success for all involved especially and most importantly the KS1 pupils themselves.
