Rebecca Adlington launches new swimming initiative
Olympic gold medallist Rebecca Adlington has launched her new swimming initiative in Wrexham to share her expertise with children.
Her new initiative called SwimStars will teach children aged three -11 years how to swim. SwimStars will see the youngsters take part in a fun swimming lesson.
Rebecca herself will be attending the swimming lesson to offer advice and give out some top tips. Since retiring from professional swimming, the double Olympic champion has launched her new initiative with the aim to make sure every child in Great Britain will be able to swim 25 metres by the time they start secondary school.
Wrexham will the first in Wales to offer the programme and the 21st in the UK. More than 4,500 children have already enrolled on to the SwimStars programme.
Rebecca said: “Even though I retired from competitive swimming just over two years ago, I am still passionate about swimming and committed to helping more kids learn to swim. I’m thrilled that we now have 21 swim schools in the UK, and it’s so rewarding to know that over 4,500 kids are learning to swim on the SwimStars programme.”
