Year 5/6 High 5 Netball Tournaments

The annual Year 5/6 High 5 Netball tournaments took place on Tuesday 6,7 and 8 March 2012. These tournaments were held at Heworth Grange School, Lord Lawson School and Charles Thorp School respectively.

The three tournaments saw 39 teams from 24 schools compete for the right to progress to the Gateshead Finals on Tuesday 20 March at Lord Lawson School. The top 2 teams in each tournament have qualified for the finals where they will compete to become the 2012 Gateshead Year 5/6 High 5 Netball Champions.

A special thank you goes to the students from Gateshead College and each of the hosting secondary schools. They helped to organise and umpire the tournaments as part of their personal development and made the events the undoubted success that they were.

There have been two further tournaments organised by our School Sport Co-ordinators at Thomas Hepburn School and St Thomas More School. These tournaments were well supported and their winning team will also progress to the Gateshead Finals.

Thomas Hepburn tournament qualifiers

The additional tournaments mean we had a grand total of 35 schools, 51 teams and approximately 400 pupils involved in our High 5 Netball tournaments - an awesome achievement and congratulations to all concerned. Netball seems to be thriving within our School Sport Partnership and we look forward to the Gateshead Finals next week.
