RESULTS ANNOUNCED - Design a Torch Competition

The results for our Blazing the Trail, Design a Torch Competition have been announced today. Congratulations go to Ryton Junior School who were selected  as overall winners by the judging panel.

This announcement follows much deliberation by the judges. Due to the very high standard of entries the judges have also decided to select a KS1 winner and highly commend several other torch entries.

A list of both the winners and highly commended Olympic Torch designs can be found by following this link Competition_Results.doc

All successful schools in this competition will receive both a certificate and be offered a visit from one of the actual torch bearers from the London 2012 Olympic Torch Relay. These rewards are part of the Schools’ Challenge in Gateshead Council’s 'Going for Gold' campaign. We are working in partnership with the Sport, Wellbeing and Independence Department to negotiate and deliver this element of our BTT initiative whilst incorporating the Going for Gold, Schools’ Challenge.

You can follow the London 2012 Olympic Torch Relay by following this link http://www.london2012.com/torch-relay/. Remember the London 2012 Torch Relay will go through Gateshead on Saturday 16 June and you can view the route by following this link http://www.london2012.com/torch-relay/route/. We really hope you will encourage and support your community to line the streets of the above route on this day and show the world how passionate we are about sport here in Gateshead. I would love to hear about anything you are planning for this day with your school and/or local community.

All schools who entered this competition receive the following:
