Year 5/6 High 5 Netball Summer League - Final Placings

Last night saw the last games take place in the Year 5/6 High 5 Netball Summer League at Joseph Swan Academy. Final placings hung in the balance with 3 teams in the mix for the top placings.

The first of these games was played on home territory due to a prior comittment and was between the two teams from Dunston Hill. The A team came out as the victors in this game.

The remaining game of the league took place at Joseph Swan Academy the actual league venue for the duration. This game was between Caedmon Primary School and Cloverhill Primary School. Caedmon were well aware that victory in this game woul seal overall top spot in the league. It was a nail biting competition with nerves running high and great levels of play by both teams. The game remained stalemate for a long period of time and it wasn\'t until the final quarter that Caedmon pulled away to take the game by 4 goals to 1.

A very big thank you must go to Joseph Swan Academy for hosting our league and their Year 7/8 Netball team who kindly umpired all league games. Just as the players progressed their skills so too did the umpires and congratulations should go to them as they develop as our officials of the future. This was probably the hardest place to test their umpiring skills and they coped admirably.

Congratulations to the winners Caedmon but to all other teams who  took part. It was an excellent competition with all players and teams developing throughout. Caedmon were also winners of our Respect Award for this league and unanimously selected by the Joseph Swan umpires for their excellent attitude and respect shown to everyone concerned but especially our practising umpires.

The league was finished off with a friendly tournament between Caedmon, Cloverhill and Corpus Christi allowing all players and umpires to further develop their skills.
