Indoor Rowers Achieve National Success

Last week saw the culmination of this years Schools Indoor Rowing Programme.  Following success at local, county and regional level a squad of pupils from across Gateshead schools were identified to compete at the National Junior Indoor Rowing Championships (NJIRC).

34 Gateshead pupils participated in the event which took place on Tuesday 16th March 2010 at Battersea Evolution (Battersea Park, West London).  This is the first time a team from the Nort East has participated.

All involved did Gateshead proud, achieving some very high finishes, most notably;

Year 8 girls          -              2nd Place

Year 8 Boys         -              8th Place

Year 10 Boys       -              6th & 11th Place

Year 11 Girls       -              9th & 11th Place

Team Relay        -              5th Place
