Creative Dance Centre - Dancing For Joy Project
WHAT IS ‘DANCING FOR JOY’?
A virtual project for young people to still dance and be creative discovering their solo choreographer whilst having to isolate at home. Giving young people the chance to be active in both body and mind through the wonderful world of dance.
WHO IS THIS FOR?
Creative Dance Centre’s regular dancers who are aged between 11-18 years and any young person aged 14-19 years who would like to get involved in the project. Creative Dance Centre welcomes any new young person who has not engaged in our dance programmes before to try out our virtual ‘Dancing for Joy’ project. We see this as a great opportunity for young people to continue their dance practice or maybe try something new. It is our mission to provide virtual dance opportunities to help keep spirits lifted, to feel happy, inspired, to have fun and a chance to continue to be creative at home.
ALL THE DETAILS:
‘Dancing for Joy’ starts Monday 25th May, it is free to get involved and will run for 14 weeks. Every Monday from 11am, we will be….
- Providing a series of dance warm-ups, technique exercises, yoga stretches to keep bodies active.
- Launching new phrase material to learn and master each week.
- Setting weekly creative tasks and challenges helping to develop young people’s inner choreographer whilst having to continue to isolate.
- Creating opportunities to share ideas and performances with others through our social media platforms, a chance to appreciate each other’s dance and creativity.
Every week we will be offering a different way for young people to engage with us online, either via:
- Our YouTube Channel - CDC Creative Dance Centre
- Live Facebook sessions - @creativedancecentre
- Sign up sessions via Zoom (we will send sign up information out closer to the chosen Monday Zoom session)
Where possible we will try and make sure most of our delivery is available on our YouTube Channel giving as many people the opportunity to learn, practice and create their own dances at any point during the week.
We are asking that young people share their experiences with us @creativedancec4 including the #dancingforjoy and they have until 5pm every Friday to share their feedback and creative work with us as part of the weekly challenge we have set.
